BACKPACKING THAILAND – Feb 20th to 28th’ 2016 

In Thailand “the Land of Smiles” you’ll uncover a country of contrasts. Offering plenty of just about everything from the vibrancy of Bangkok to rural villages and hill tribes to the idyllic southern islands, Thailand is the sort of place you visit once and long for forever. Surround yourself with stunning scenery, fascinating history, mouth-watering food, beaches, mountains, cities, villages and amazing people.
Our Journey focuses on Bangkok, the hilly region of Kanchanaburi and the beautiful southern beaches of Phuket, Krabi, Ko Phi Phi and Ko Lanta. Try bathing under the Erawan waterfall in a jungle clearing,  relax on the the innumerable beaches of Ko Phi Phi and Ko Lanta, savor cuisines from an innumerable array of  thai and international choices, experience the charm and exuberance of a floating market and get up close with colorful marine life on a snorkeling trip. This backpacking journey covers the very essence of the best that Thailand has to offer and is filled with beautiful sights and experiences.


ITINERARY

Day 1 :  Feb 20th – Bangkok 
Arrive in Bangkok. Check into hotel / guesthouse. Afternoon take one of the ferry boats zipping through the Cho Praya River for a view of Bangkok from the river and get off in front of Grand Palace. Set along the waterway of the Chao Phraya River, the Grand Palace is a spectacle to experience. Within the palace complex are sensational temples that house some of the most well-preserved and coveted Buddhist artifacts, including Wat Phra Kaew, the Temple of the Emerald Buddha. Later after lunch cross to the other bank of the Cho Praya river and visit the beautiful Wat Arun. Later in the evening we stroll and explore Khao San Road for shopping and street food exploration. Overnight at Bangkok.

Day 2 :  Feb 21st – Bangkok to Kanchanaburi
After breakfast drive to the  riverside town of Kanchanaburi. En route stop at a traditional Thai floating market where grandma’s and young girls in small boats sell flowers, fruits and a thousand varieties of delicacies. Sea food is usually the main draw with seafood grilled precariously on wooden boats, serving an appetizing array of huge prawns, shellfish and squid.  Take a motorboat tour exploring the floating market and the villages around it. After lunch we head to the  famed Tiger Temple. Witness the splendor of the world’s largest feline, the tiger play with the monks who raise the tigers from birth and you get to touch a tiger and take photos with it. Overnight at Kanchanaburi.

Day 3 :  Feb 22nd – Kanchanaburi 
After breakfast we visit the Hell Fire Pass Museum and the pass itself. The Museum gives a beautiful account of the making of the Death Railway line during the second world war. If you choose you could walk down along a section of the former railway track bed. Later we visit the Sai Yok Noi waterfalls and have a experience the falls before lunch. Later we head back to Kanchanaburi and visit Thailand Burma Railway Center Museum and the allied prisoners of war cemeteries, to learn about some of the history of the notorious Death Railway and the harsh conditions under which it was built. Evening stroll on the infamous Bridge on the River Kwai and explore the market at Kanchanaburi. Overnight at Kanchanaburi.

Day 4 :  Feb 23rd – Kanchanaburi to Bangkok
After breakfast we drive towards Erawan National Park to visit one of the most spectacular Waterfalls in the whole of Thailand. This spectacular multi layer waterfalls is a collection of seven beautiful waterfalls with each layer having a pool under it. We will walk through the National park exploring each tier of the waterfall for those who enjoy a good energetic hike we can trek to the top most tier for those less energetic we can just explore the lower tiers. The crystal clear waters here are great for a swim if you want to cool off during your hike. After lunch we head back to Bangkok. Overnight at Bangkok.

Day 5 :  Feb 24th – Bangkok
Day for rest and explore Bangkok on your own or the group could get together and plan something. Our co coordinator will assist you. You could go to the shopping district of Siam and Silom, take an MTR ( underground ) OR  Skytrain , ride through Chinatown in a tuk tuk. Evening transfer to bus station for the overnight bus to Phuket. Overnight in bus. 

Day 6 :  Feb 25th –  Phuket to Ko Phi Phi Don 
Arrive at Phuket in the morning and take ferry / ship to Ko Phi Phi Don. See the krast formations and feel the excitement as the ferry glides over the blue waters and closes in towards picture perfect Ko Phi Phi Don.  Day to rest and explore Ko Phi Phi Don. Evening visit Long Beach and hike upto Ko Phi Phi viewpoint. Overnight at Ko Phi Phi Don.

Day 7 : Feb 26th –  Ko Phi Phi Island Tour
Today you will embark on a longboat tour journey visiting six islands of the Ko Phi Phi  archipelago. The water is three shades of blue, ranging from nearly clear to sapphire, sitting beneath the rising green of the jungle island where the limestone karsts are bright and majestic and the natural beauty is unparalleled.  We Maya bay, Monkey island, Loh Samah Bay, Pileh Cove and Viking Cave and Ko Phi Phi Leh. We also stop for snorkelling at Coral Bay and Viking Cave and explore the underwater world where many species of colorful fishes can be seen. Back to Ko Phi Phi Don in the evening and overnight at Ko Phi Phi Don.

Day 8 : Feb 27th – Ko Phi Phi to Phuket  
After breakfast take a ferry ride to Phuket. Afternoon and evening to relax or free to explore Phuket town. Overnight at Phuket.

Day 9 : Feb 28th –  Phuket to Bangkok
After breakfast drive to airport and take flight to Bangkok for connecting flight to India. End of tour.
